My Brecker-life-wrecker!
Last night I drove a few short miles to my sisters house to bring my nephew a birthday treat. I unloaded the kids as usual. This particular night I got Breck out first and she held Kinzlee’s hand and walked to the front door, and knocked. While I was getting Adley out, my sister Angie came through the garage door. She had to run my nephew to drop some things off and would be back shortly. Adley saw the open garage door and went right on in. I grabbed my handful of treats and headed in the garage as well. I saw Kinzlee and Corbin walk in the house right behind me and noticed immediately that Brecklyn was not with them. I ran for the front door fearing my sister had already begun to back out. When I opened the door I heard Brecklyn crying and it was coming from the driveway. My heart dropped… I ran around the bend to find her. She was standing in the middle of the driveway (in the pitch dark) and Angie was walking toward her. Angie had thankfully remembered that Brecklyn was with Kinz and Corb, but didn’t see her go in, so before backing out she had gone to find her. I am so grateful Angie wasn’t in a thoughtless hurry as we so often are. Thank you is hardly sufficient, but thank you anyway, Angie.

When I finally crawled in bed around midnight last night, I had just gotten cozy when I heard my little Brecker-wrecker cry. I immediately went to retrieve her. She snuggled right into bed with me and was back asleep in seconds. I, however; was worlds away from sleep. I held my little baby grateful to be able to smell her, touch her, and kiss her. I just kept thinking how different this night could have been…
I said a prayer aloud thanking God for everyday I have been given with each of my children, and thanking him for reminding me what a gift each child truly is, without taking one from me.
And just because Brecklyn always has to share the spotlight and it’s never ALL ABOUT HER, here goes:

She pulls out her hair-do and takes off her socks and shoes every time we ride in the car. She can enter a room and within three seconds find a binky that no one else on earth knew was there. She carries her blankie with her most of the day and in the mornings she is so attached to it that I have to arrange it between her booster and chair so that she can still rub her face on it while she is eating her breakfast. She is very loving and attentive to anyone who is hurt or sad, unless she is the cause of the hurt or sadness, and then she pretends nothing has happened. She thinks she is ten feet tall and is not afraid of ANYONE bigger than her. She will poke your eyeballs, pinch your cheeks, pull your hair, etc, for no reason at all. She loves to be held and cuddled and will lift her legs in the air when you try to put her down. She loves to be tickled and chased and gives out kisses on demand. At the mention of the word bath she will run to the bathroom and move the stool I sit on next to the tub and wait for me to catch up. Her favorite sign is cookie. She will sign and say, “cookie” for more than an hour…very persistent…and it usually pays off. When she gets excited she yells, “Yeah” in the cutest voice imaginable. She steals food off her sisters tray while looking the other way and pretending like nothing is happening. She laughs when she is caught. She climbs on the counter at least a hundred times a day and gets into everything. No matter how many times I take her down and tell her no, she is not deterred. She will immediately begin the climb again.
I know you will use that determination to do great things Brecklyn. I love you!

How true it is...

Imagine my delight when a birthday package came in the mail today from my amazing friend Sharlie! This candy bar was included which is still making me laugh as I am typing this. This really is a chocolate bar! Where she finds these things is beyond me, but they keep on coming year after year and I love them! I don't know about your marriage, but I am willing to admit that ours looks just about like this...and it's bliss. Thanks Sharlie!

AND...speaking of bliss, these kids are a whole basket of it (for at least twenty seconds everyday.).

The other twenty-three hours and some change they are wrecking my life. :)
*see previous post, and add the following picture of them in the toy room attempting to clean up the ENTIRE box of KIX they dumped out.
Sigh...What's a mom to do?
